Dr Ali Raza Mirza is a quantum physicist with a PhD in open quantum systems and two years of research experience as a postdoctoral researcher in the field. Their work focuses on harnessing the power of open quantum systems in specific areas of expertise, e.g., quantum computing, quantum optics, and quantum information theory, and contributing significantly to the scientific community through research and publications.

Dr. Mirza has authored around six peer-reviewed journal articles, and serves as a referee for physics journals, ensuring the quality of scientific publications. As an invited speaker, they have presented research at five international conferences in the UK, USA, and Pakistan, engaging with leading experts in the field. Their research focuses on advancing the understanding of parameter estimations and the role of quantum correlations. Their expertise includes theoretical modelling, analytical calculations and numerical simulations.

Teaching is my passion

My role as a teacher is to develop love for Physics, foster curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and adapt my teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners. I believe that every learner learns in their own way. I prioritize interactive learning and activity-based learning. Using real-world examples and discussing practical applications make my teaching more effective and meaningful. My goal is not just to teach content but to inspire a love for lifelong Physics learning.

As a an instructor, my physics teaching revolves around creating an interactive learning environment. I trust that students can learn at their best when they are actively engaged in the process. I try to promote critical thinking through hands-on learning experience. I believe that students can be well motivated by showing them physics in action. I utilize a variety of laboratory and technological tools to bring abstract concepts to life. By incorporating real-world examples and animations, I bridge the gap between theory and practice. This approach makes learning more tangible and fosters their critical thinking.

I hold both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education, with a focus on science education, which laid a strong foundation for my teaching career. To further enhance my skills, I also completed a nine-month certification in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Surrey, UK. These academic achievements have equipped me with a deep understanding of effective teaching strategies, curriculum design, and student engagement at the university level.
